You Don't Know What to See from your own Backyard Credit River, Mississauga, Ontario "And after all the violence and double talk, there's just a song in the trouble and the strife, you do the walk, you do the walk of life" Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits wrote and sang that song of acceptance that after all the troubles of life, you have to move on and move forward. You have to do the walk of life. Last Monday, after what was supposed to be a holiday turned out to be workday for us. By 4pm, we both decided - "enough!" Folded down the laptop and decided to walk out of our house and onto the nearest body of water - could've been the shower but no - the Credit River. (Don't ask if a banker named the river) We walked down our main road reached the beautiful small village of Streetsville, joined the crowd in the plaza, bought ice cream and continued walking til we reached the riverbanks. Of course, what lies ahead in front of us was far rewarding than what we were doing in front of the computer. The view was spectacular, albeit relaxing. Let me share the images taken from the Blackberry Pearl. *********** Yesterday, Charice has debuted her first single, a remake of Jojo's "A Note For God" - straight to No. 2. Eventually, it will go past Black Eyed Peas (where another Pinoy is a band member.) but for now, let's enjoy the great voice of the 17-year old "dalagita" from the Philippines. Enjoy! Even the latest Manila visitor, David Archuleta has been smitten. With a twit that said "I never knew Charice's last name was Pempengco! Makes sense now lol. Only knew her as Charice. Watching her on youtube since I can't sleep" *********** "No to Philippine Book Blockade." - Please help sign the petition to stop levying taxes on imported books. We here in North America don't feel this but countries who want to increase their literacy through books from all around the world, will now have to pay the burden of added tax apart from the value added tax that they pay. *********** In the meantime, I'm cherishing the win by the Lakers tonight. It wasn't close to a walk in the park as it took them the last 3 minutes to wake up and steal the game from the Nuggets. And no, Trevor Ariza, the Lakers' No. 3, is not a cousin. << |
