Garbage Piling Up Spadina and Augusta Ave. Tomorrow, July 1 is Canada Day. It is also the 9th day of the current impasse between government workers and the municipality of Toronto. It is hard to judge on who is at fault or what is the cause for the strike but what is clearly affected are the innocent people of Toronto, the taxpayers, the people who wish to have their garbage removed from the curb every week, the day care centers tending their children and the community centers open for swimming and other facilities. But no. Those will be closed - more so tomorrow. I would've said, "good thing, we live in Mississauga", but no, I commiserate with our friends from Toronto. Last time I was there, the garbage are piling up. But a lot better than what I was used to back in the Philippines. ************ This fire was just a few feet from where we first lived. Hmmmm....Full news here ************ If you hear and read news like garbage pile up and arson fire, it seems like reading something from the local Philippine papers, di ba? What's next? ************ Filipino boys tennis ace, Casey Alcantara loses in Wimbledon tennis championships today. Sayang. ********** So the Philippines made it again to CNN. Yes, the tribute to Michael Jackson of the inmates from Cebu concocted a tribute in a whirlwind record time, upload it to You Tube and in 2 days hit more than 1 million views. Medyo mahaba, pero sulit...if you have seen it, you were part of the close to 3 million viewers na. ********** << |
